Start and end times are rounded to the selected interval before duration and pay are calculated.
When an unpaid break has no exact timestamp, its minutes are distributed proportionally across night, weekend and daytime work.
This is a planning estimate, not an official payslip. Confirm overtime, break, premium, holiday, tax and rounding rules with the relevant contract or payroll authority.
How work hours and pay are calculated
Each valid shift is converted to minutes. Unpaid breaks are subtracted, shifts are checked for overlap, and weekly worked time is split at the overtime threshold.
Important payroll assumptions
Overnight shifts
If an end time is equal to or earlier than its start time, the shift ends on the following calendar day.
Overtime order
Worked minutes are counted in chronological order. Minutes beyond the weekly threshold receive the overtime premium.
Paid absences
Leave, sick leave and public-holiday hours are paid at the base rate in this estimate and do not create overtime.
Night and weekend premiums
Premium hours are calculated from the actual clock interval. They may overlap with each other and with overtime.
Rounding
When rounding is enabled, shift start and end times are rounded to the nearest selected interval before totals are calculated.
Monthly and annual estimates
Monthly gross pay uses 52 weeks divided by 12. Annual gross pay multiplies the weekly result by 52.
Work Hours Calculator FAQ
Can I add more than one shift on the same day?
Yes. Add as many non-overlapping shifts as needed. Each shift may have its own break and can continue past midnight.
Can I enter 12-hour and 24-hour times?
Yes. Entries such as 17:30 and 5:30 PM are both accepted. The selected display format controls how schedules appear in the results.
How are unpaid and paid breaks handled?
An unpaid break is subtracted from paid time. A paid break remains part of paid and worked time.
How is overtime assigned across the week?
Worked minutes are processed chronologically. Once cumulative worked time passes the weekly threshold, later minutes are treated as overtime.
Can this calculator determine my exact net pay?
No. The optional deduction percentage gives only a simple estimate. Tax, social contributions, allowances and payroll rules differ by person and jurisdiction.
Where is my saved weekly template stored?
It is stored only in this browser using local storage. It is not sent to the website and can be replaced by saving another template.
