Editorial and Calculation Methodology
How Calculator-Convert selects formulas, handles units, tests interactive tools, localizes explanations and corrects mistakes.
Our objective
A useful calculator must answer the intended question, use the correct relationship between inputs, explain important assumptions and behave consistently across devices and languages. We evaluate the formula, implementation, visible explanation and search metadata as parts of the same page.
Calculation workflow
Sources and assumptions
Not every calculation has one universally preferred formula. When multiple accepted formulas exist, the tool should name the selected method or show a comparison. If regional rules, rates or professional judgment can change the answer, the result is presented as an estimate and the relevant limitation should be stated.
We do not treat another calculator’s result as a primary source. Suitable references can include legislation and government publications, recognized standards, academic or professional publications, and documentation from the organization responsible for a technical definition.
Quality checks
- One clear page heading
- Working input, calculate and reset controls
- Correct unit labels and output units
- Consistent formulas and intermediate values
- Readable mobile and desktop layout
- Valid inline JavaScript and JSON-LD
- Self-referencing canonical URL
- Correct language and hreflang relationships
- No broken placeholders or encoding damage
- Accessible labels and result announcements
Health, finance, pet care and safety-sensitive topics
These calculators can help organize information, but they cannot diagnose, prescribe, guarantee an outcome or account for every individual circumstance. Medication and dosage tools are mathematical converters for an existing professional instruction, not prescribing systems. Financial and tax tools provide estimates and do not replace advice based on current local rules. Construction and electrical results should be checked against applicable codes and professional requirements.
Localization process
The English page is the structural and computational reference. Translation must preserve HTML structure, formulas, field identifiers, JavaScript behavior, storage keys, URLs and measurement symbols while adapting visible language naturally to its context. A word with several meanings is translated according to the calculation—for example, “meter” as a unit of length is not translated as a measuring device.
Updates, corrections and accountability
Pages are updated when we improve their interface, explanation, source basis, formula implementation or translations. The visible “last updated” date is generated from the page’s WordPress modification date. It is not a promise that an external rule or rate is current unless the page states a specific effective date.
Anyone can submit a correction through the error report. A useful report includes the page URL, the inputs used, the displayed result and the expected result or reference. For general questions, use the contact page.
