Torque is force times the perpendicular lever arm: τ = F × r × sin(θ). At 90° the full force contributes; at 0° or 180° the torque magnitude is zero.

Newton-meters and pound-feet are common in vehicle specs, torque wrenches, fasteners, and engineering references.
