Light quantities are different

Luminous flux (lm)
Luminous intensity (cd)
Illuminance (lx)
Luminance (cd/m²)

Lumens describe light output; lux describes light arriving per unit area. Candela describes directional intensity, while cd/m² describes apparent surface brightness. They are not interchangeable by a fixed factor.

Flame is a legacy approximate unit (1 flame ≈ 4 fc). The W/cm² option applies only to monochromatic light at 540 THz (about 555 nm); other spectra have no fixed conversion to lux.

Illumination Converter FAQ

How do I use the Illumination Converter?
